Bahamas Court rules Against Butler PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 05 October 2007
Today, Justice Anita Allen ruled against the application of Sir Arlington Butler to dismiss the law suit brought by the Executives of the  BOA.  Justice Allen pointed out that the only order that Justice Lyons made was in favour of the BOA and did nothing more than dissolve the injunctions that Lyons had given to four Federation Presidents to stop the BOA Elections.  She said that nothing Justice Lyons said in his April Ruling applied to the lawsuit challenging the multifarious claims of Butler.

As we have said at every opportunity, the supposed Judgments and improbable interpretations that Butler has been distributing were not based on the BOA's Constitution nor Justice Lyon's Ruling.

You will have probably realized from your dealings with the Bahamas Olympic Association during this unsettling period, that, despite the assertions of Sir Arlington, the Executives are still the Executives and the BOA is still the BOA; and we all continue to work towards fulfilling our missions for the good of sports, the Athletes, the Federations and the Olympic Ideals.  Butler's attempt to scuttle the organization by decree is failing; but he has inflicted scars and wounds from which the BOA will take time to heal.

Sir Durward Knowles has been chosen to head the Association under Article X of the BOA Constitution; and we ask you to give him your full support as we seek to build an efficient democratic organization, and cease the legal wrangling which may have been implemented and nurtured by the Immediate Past President.
