On Tuesday, 30th of June, 2020, at l’Intemporelle, Mémorial ACTe’s Brasserie, Guadeloupe 2021 Organizing Committee held a Press Conference for the 1 year mark before the Opening Ceremony of the Caribbean Games 2021. The goal of this event was to confirm that the Games will be happening on the dates initially planned, that is to say from June 30th to July 4th, 2021, in spite of the health crisis which affected the whole world these last months.
The media, present in the room, could witness the support offered to Guadeloupe by the Caribbean sport bodies, with videos of the President of CACSO (Central America and Caribbean Sports Organization), Luis Mejia, as well as the Secretary General of CANOC (Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committee), Keith Joseph. They both stood together and underlined the importance of such a competition for the Caribbean region.
The President of CROS Guadeloupe highlighted the role of the Caribbean Games in the socio-economic revival of several key sectors of Guadeloupe (tourism, air transport, communication, events, cooperation). These Caribbean Games are a source of resilience and positivity in the face of the health crisis and the challenges they pose.
Secondly, the project manager of the 2021 Caribbean Games, Julien CHIPOTEL, made a progress report on the organization of the event, be it in terms of the financing plan, the sports competitions as well as the communication strategy.

El martes 30 de junio de 2020, en la Brasserie l’Intemporelle en el Mémorial ACTe, el Comité Organizador de Guadalupe 2021 celebró una conferencia de prensa por la marca de 1 año antes de la Ceremonia de Apertura de los Juegos del Caribe 2021. El objetivo de este evento fue confirmar que los Juegos se desarrollarán en las fechas inicialmente planificadas, es decir, del 30 de junio al 4 de julio de 2021, a pesar de la crisis de salud que afectó al mundo entero en estos últimos meses.
Los medios de comunicación, presentes en la sala, pudieron presenciar el apoyo ofrecido a Guadalupe por los organismos deportivos del Caribe, con videos del Presidente de la ODECABE (Organización de Deportes de Centroamérica y el Caribe), Luis Mejía, así como del Secretario General de CANOC (Asociación Caribeña del Comité Olímpico Nacional), Keith Joseph, quienes se unieron y subrayaron la importancia de tal evento para la región del Caribe.
El presidente de CROS Guadalupe destacó el papel de los Juegos del Caribe en el resurgimiento socioeconómico de varios sectores clave de Guadalupe (turismo, transporte aéreo, comunicación, eventos, cooperación). Estos Juegos del Caribe son una fuente de resistencia y positividad frente a la crisis de salud y los desafíos que plantean.
En segundo lugar, el gerente de proyecto de los Juegos del Caribe 2021, Julien CHIPOTEL, hizo un informe de progreso sobre la organización del evento, ya sea en términos del plan de financiamiento, las competiciones deportivas y la estrategia de comunicación.

On Thursday, November 28th, 2019, the Caribbean Games 2021, which will take place in Guadeloupe from June 30 to July 4, 2021, were presented to potential partners and service providers at at the Librairie Générale in Jarry.
It was an opportunity to make them take the measure of this project which will involve the whole of Guadeloupe and above all to allow them to project themselves on the economic opportunities of such an event.
Indeed, these Caribbean Games GLP 2021 will be an opportunity for each of them to showcase their organization while contributing to the success of this world-class sporting event.
Following the presentation, Alain Soreze, President of the CROS of Guadeloupe, answered the informed questions of journalists and partners. The exchanges continued in a rich and relevant way.
Some proposals have already been made by private organisations. It is now up to all economic, institutional and media actors to take part in the construction of this project.

Jeudi 28 novembre 2019, à la Librairie Générale de Jarry, avait lieu la présentation, aux partenaires et prestataires potentiels, des Jeux de la Caraïbe (Caribbean Games en anglais) qui se dérouleront en Guadeloupe du 30 Juin au 4 Juillet 2021.
Ce fut l’occasion de leur faire prendre la mesure de ce projet qui impliquera toute la Guadeloupe et surtout de leur permettre de se projeter sur les opportunités économiques d’un tel évènement.
En effet, ces Jeux de la Caraïbe GLP2021 seront l’occasion pour chacun d’entre eux de faire rayonner leur organisation tout en contribuant au succès de cet événement sportif d’envergure internationale. Suit à la présentation, Alain Sorèze, président du CROS de Guadeloupe, a répondu aux questions avisées des journalistes et partenaires.
Les échanges se sont poursuivis de manière riches et pertinents. Certaines propositions ont dores et déjà été formulées par des organisations privées. Il appartient désormais à tous les acteurs économiques, institutionnels, médiatique de prendre part à la construction de ce projet.
